A Bit of Press

Back from showing off Jolly Rover at GDC and facing a sea of cool art to put in, plus we start voice recording next week. We’re in the eye of the storm now and lashing ourselves down for a wild ride to Beta.

Gamezebo was kind enough to do a preview on Jolly Rover here. And GameRevolution game the game a brief mention while I was at GDC, which can be found here.

Adventure Game #2 is No More

It is with great sadness that I announce Adventure Game #2 will not go ahead for business reasons on the publisher’s side. To cope with this loss we’re putting all our efforts into shipping Jolly Rover a whopping 2 months early! Expect a release in early June!

Brawsome New Year!

Brawsome welcomes you with a Happy New Year! 2010 is going to be Brawsome’s biggest year yet, with 2 brand-new, never-seen-before, not-some-licenced-crap, original games coming out mid 2010.

If you’ve been following us on twitter (@brawsome) you’ll know we’re working on another adventure game in addition to the one the Film Vic grant is helping fund. This other project was needed to keep the Brawsome engine firing while the first adventure game project was developed. But that’s not to discount the second project, which is truly awesome in its own right.

This year Brawsome is going to start undertaking a necessary evil – Marketing. So watch this space for news about the first adventure game in the first couple of months of 2010. Or better yet, follow along on twitter @brawsome, for up to the minute updates, like what we thought about Avatar (likes). Even more better yet, boost your indie gamer cred by noticing the option to join the Brawsome mailing list *hint* *hint*.

Brawsome Gets Film Vic Funding

On Wednesday I recieved a very exciting call from Film Victoria, they’ve awarded Brawsome with a grant for development of a new adventure game! This is HUGE! Will post more details when I find out how much I’m allowed to say.

In other news I’ll be at Freeplay in August, not presenting, but maybe next year when I’ve got something to talk about.

Just Another Point n Click Adventure Re-release

One surprising thing about Just Another Point n Click Adventure is that people keep playing it. Now, I’m not saying it’s not a good game, but the kids these days aren’t into the low-res adventures where you have to use your brain a bit, so it constantly surprises me that people are still picking it up.

Over the years the one standout thing that I’ve been emailed about is a few bugs that only happen on certain machine configurations. I have been meaning to go through and fix them for ages, but I always seem to have something else taking up my time. So I’ve finally bitten the bullet and updated the game to the latest version of Adventure Game Studio. Not only that, but I’ve gone through all dialog in the game and fixed up the grammar and spelling. We have full stops and capital ‘I’s now! Praise be, your deity!

So now what I quietly refer to as an ‘indie classic adventure’ is now playable on your fancy Vista box with your Gigs of RAM and shuttle powering video cards. And yes it’s free! Because I haven’t found a way to make people pay for it. If you think I could get some money for this, GET IN TOUCH!

Download it right now here, or go to the games page to find out more.

Brawsome at Framework 2009

I’ll be heading down to Framwork 2009 tomorrow. This one is titled “Design Aikido”. Visions of designers single-handedly defeating a boatload of terrorists aside, from what I gather framework brings together games and film to see what one can learn from the other through a series of talks and workshops. Sounds good.
