Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Kufre Etim!
Kufre plays Robert ‘Rob’ Deng. A droid tech just getting started in the business, runs afoul of a droid behaving strangely while on a job in new Locan mine.
This role was the hardest to cast as there seems to be a fairly small pool of Australian voice actors with an African background. I used a couple of casting websites – Mandy, and StarNow. StarNow proved to be the best for finding Australian talent. I did all my casting for Jolly Rover on Voice123, but it seems much harder to find Australian talent on there. I think in future I’ll be posting jobs between StarNow and Voice123, depending on what I’m looking for.
Rob provided just the performance I was looking for, and I’d work with him again, but I did need to do a bit of post-processing on the audio. I learned a lot about tools for getting audio levelled and cleaned up to go into the game. Izotope RX was the only tool I found that could clean up everything, and their batch processing was exactly what I needed for so many files.
